500 foreigners crossed from Gaza to Egypt and seven were injured

Some 500 foreign citizens or dual citizens and at least seven wounded Palestinians crossed over today Gaza strip towards Egypt on a new day of evacuation through the Rafah border crossing, which reopened this Sunday after being closed for the past two days.

Secretary General in Red Crescent in North Sinai, Raed Abdel Nassersaid in press statements that seven wounded persons arrived in an ambulance in Egyptian territory from the Palestinian enclave with seven companions.

All were transferred to hospitals in northern Sinai, especially the hospital center in Al Arishthe closest to the border, 40 kilometers from Rafa.

According to Nasser, a group of 500 “foreign and dual nationals”, including Brazilians and Russians, were also evacuated around 15:00 local time (13:00 GMT).

The arrival of these people happens after Gaza Border and Crossing Authority announced the reopening of evacuation crossings last night after two days of closure to people leaving, although humanitarian aid trucks were allowed to enter Gaza on Friday.

On the other hand, this Sunday, according to humanitarian sources, at least 53 aid trucks crossed the Egyptian side of Rafah on their way to Gaza.

This is in addition to the more than 800 trucks that, according to various estimates, have entered the Strip since Israel approved their entry on October 21.

Humanitarian organizations, on the other hand, condemn that the aid that has arrived so far is insufficient, and the UN agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA) has warned that this represents “a drop in the ocean of need” population of Gaza.
