Their happiness seemed perfect. After proposing with a breathtaking view, Nate K.* from Ohio finally married his wife Mariana at the end of October.
They both shine in their wedding photo. What the newlyweds didn’t know at the time of the photo: Just three days after the photo, the groom was dead.
As the New York Post reports, the new husband’s life was tragically taken during their honeymoon in the Caribbean: a water skiing accident ended in his death.
The horror accident took place on the paradise island of St. Lucia, where the two had traveled immediately after their dream wedding. The report does not provide details about the tragic accident.
Friends and relatives of the family have now started two fundraisers for the young bride on Gofundme. The money will be used to cover the costs of the honeymoon and funeral preparations.
“Words cannot describe how much his story and that of his family breaks our hearts,” reads the appeal for donations. Nate is also described as funny, friendly and kind-hearted. He was a wonderful husband, friend, son and brother.
Donations over $100,000
His devastated mother also spoke out in a Facebook post. “Nate’s death took us all by surprise and took our breath away,” said Heather K. She also wrote that her family could use some prayers right now.
The solidarity with the family and the bride appears to be great. By Wednesday morning, the two accounts had already collected more than $100,000, the equivalent of about R90,000. (dzc)
