According to Israeli media reports, Tamimi reportedly called for the killing of Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank on Instagram about a week ago. In an Instagram story, the Palestinian wrote: “We are waiting for you in all the cities of the West Bank, from Hebron to Jenin – we will slaughter you and you will say that what Hitler did to you was a joke, we will drink. bleed you and eat your skulls, come on, we’re waiting for you.”

Tamimi is seen as a symbolic figure of resistance against the Israeli occupation in the Arab world; Israel has seen her as a provocateur for years. In 2018, the then 16-year-old was sentenced to eight months in prison after punching an Israeli soldier in the face on camera.
The situation in the West Bank has deteriorated further since the war between Israel and Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, began on October 7. Nearly 150 Palestinians have since been killed in Israeli military operations and clashes with Israeli settlers, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. According to human rights organizations, it is the deadliest year in about fifteen years.
