Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov (47) officially promoted his son Adam (15) to head of the Chechen security service on Sunday. Health Minister Adam Alchanov wrote in a Telegram post on Saturday: “I congratulate Adam Kadyrov on his appointment to the responsible position of head of the security department of the President of the Chechen Republic!”
In recent months, Papa Kadyrov had taken great care of his son’s career. The teenager recently gained the image of a brutal criminal when he knocked a defenseless prisoner to the ground.
Adam’s victim, Nikita Shurawel (19), was arrested for allegedly burning a Koran. Adam then let his fists do the talking in September and knocked the detainee to the ground. “I am proud of Adam’s actions,” Ramzan Kadyrov said at the time about his son’s beating. He published a video on Telegram of Adam doing what he did. The detainee is still awaiting his criminal trial and has not yet been convicted.
“Despite his young age, Adam Kadyrov already has a wealth of practical experience,” Alchanov explains. “Nothing and no one will stop him from defending his father, the people, religion and homeland.” Duma deputy and close confidante of the Kadyrov family, Adam Delimkhanov, also praised the decision. “The appointment to such a position is completely legitimate.”
Apparently at the front in Ukraine
Other officials also praise the “leadership qualities” of the Kadyrov descendants. “He has proven to be a courageous patriot of the homeland and someone who is willing to stand up for religion,” said Akhmed Dudayev, Chechen Minister of National Policy. “He combines the best qualities of a true Chechen and a Muslim.”
Adam Kadyrov is a martial artist and has been crowned the winner of several tournaments. According to the Chechen rulers, he also has excellent skills in weapons technology. Participation in the war in Ukraine is also on the teenager’s resume: Kadyrov said he sent his three minor sons to the front to fight against “Ukrainian nationalists.” It is unclear whether the boys were actually on the front lines and taking part in combat operations.
Ramzan Kadyrov’s career also started as head of security
The Chechen leader has worked hard in recent weeks to polish his son’s resume. At the beginning of October he awarded him the title “Hero of Chechnya” – for what achievement is unclear. Kadyrov also asked other regions in the Caucasus to honor his son. Adam Kadyrov promptly received Tatarstan’s second-highest award “for his significant contribution to strengthening inter-ethnic and inter-religious peace.” All a short time after the prison beating video was released.
Ramzan Kadyrov’s career as a Chechen leader also began with a position as head of the security service. And he was only 15 years old at the time. According to Russian law, a person must have a higher education to hold this position, but apparently different rules apply to Chechnya’s most powerful family.
