The Israeli army says it has now attacked more than 12,000 targets in the Gaza Strip. These include weapons depots, buildings of leading Hamas members and rocket arsenals. According to Israel’s own statements, Israel also bombed the Jabaliya refugee camp twice. There would have been countless casualties. The Israeli military said Hamas terrorists were “eliminated” in the two attacks.

The city of Gaza is now surrounded. By far the largest city in the Gaza Strip is the “focal point of the terrorist organization Hamas,” it said. According to the Israeli army, more than 130 terrorists were “eliminated” this week on Thursday alone.

Before the war, Gaza had an estimated population of 750,000, about a third of the population of the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army had repeatedly called on people still in the northern Gaza Strip and Gaza city to flee to the south of the coastal area.

Thousands of Palestinians have been killed and injured since October 7. About 1,400 Israelis lost their lives – the majority of them civilians. The increasing number of civilian casualties in Gaza and the catastrophic situation for the residents are causing increasing international criticism.

Meanwhile, Joe Biden spoke out for a “pause” in the war. The US government had previously refused to discuss a ceasefire, believing such a ceasefire would only play into the hands of Islamist Hamas.

Fighting on Israel’s border with Lebanon is also flaring up. The Iranian-backed Hezbollah claimed responsibility for 19 attacks on Israeli posts near the border. There are concerns that the war could spread to Lebanon and other countries in the region. Hezbollah has close ties to Hamas and is considered one of its main supporters.
