Andrea Bosisio (right, here with bar guests), owner of Bar Simposio in Trento, has every reason to be happy at the moment.

Andrea Bosisio was amazed. Recently, the owner of bar Simposio in the Italian city of Trento received a letter with an apology and 30 euros. The anonymous sender admits that he and some friends committed fraud with Bosio’s company fifteen years ago.

“We walked away without paying, which was unfair and turned us into thieves,” the stranger wrote. He has not entered the Simposio since. Now he wants to pay off his debts and those of his companions.

He quadrupled the amount owed and rounded it up. “I think I have corrected the mistake and leave it up to you to accept the apology or not. We will see you again at your club, but I walk in with my head held high.”

“I’m waiting for you with open arms”

Bar owner Andrea Bosisio was touched by the letter. So much so that he shared a photo of it on social media. “Someone who apologizes after fifteen years and sends money: that’s great,” writes Andrea Bosisio.

Of course, it’s not about the money, it’s about the gesture, they say. «In the 18 years that Simposio has existed, this is one of the best days we have ever had. Thank you, thank you, thank you.” Finally, he invites the repentant person directly: “We are waiting for you with open arms for a nice drink and to thank you personally.”

According to the Italian newspaper “Corriere del Trentino”, billeting is becoming increasingly popular among Italians. For example, Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni (46) had to intervene last summer when a video went viral on TikTok in which a group of Italian tourists fled a restaurant in Albania without paying the bill. Meloni called on the Italian ambassador to Albania to foot the bill “for these idiots.” “Italy must not lose its respect.” (keg)
