According to their relatives, there were dozens of sailors on the boats when the hurricane passed by. At least 46 people were killed in the storm and 58 are still missing, according to latest authorities.

“Otis” hit the coast near Acapulco last week as a Level 5 hurricane with sustained winds of nearly 170 miles per hour and gusts up to 210 miles per hour. In just twelve hours the storm had developed from a tropical storm to a dangerous hurricane.

More than 270,000 apartments and houses were damaged by the hurricane. In addition, 80 percent of all hotels in the tourism-dependent region around Acapulco were affected, the government announced.
