Heavy storms hit large parts of northern Italy on Tuesday night. The area around Milan was particularly affected.
As a result of the large amounts of water, the Seveso River overflowed its banks and the districts of Isola and Niguarda north of the center were flooded. Photos and videos showed people standing on the street up to their knees in water. Train stations were flooded and entire streets were flooded.
More than 170 fire brigade operations
There were no reports of injuries or deaths. According to authorities in Lombardy, rain, storms and thunderstorms will continue in the coming days. The northern Italian regions of Emilia-Romagna, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Liguria and Trentino-South Tyrol were and are also affected.
