A blurry, shaky image: it shows a man, he has an unremarkable build and hardly looks threatening. But he probably has a human life on his conscience, according to the police in Passau.
It happened at the beginning of October in the Lower Bavarian town of Pocking (Germany). A man and his wife are driving a Renault around 7 p.m. They stop at an intersection and another car has the right of way.
Unknown man hits car
Then an unknown man on foot approaches the car and hits the rear window twice. The couple parks the car, gets out and asks what’s going on. The unknown man then runs up to the 61-year-old, says something in broken German and punches him in the stomach twice, according to ‘Bild’.
The victim collapses. The woman calls 911 and alerts the police. The 61-year-old gets up and follows the criminal, who fled on foot. Police are now trying to piece together what happened next.
Patrol finds him covered in blood
Moments later, a patrol found the 61-year-old lying on the ground, bleeding and seriously injured, unresponsive.
According to “Bild”, an emergency doctor resuscitated the 61-year-old for 20 minutes. Once he was stable, he was taken to hospital, but succumbed to serious brain injuries on Tuesday. Police found the criminal’s blurry images on his cell phone.
Now she has published the photos, as well as other photos from a surveillance camera. The police are investigating suspicions of physical injury resulting in death and are looking for witnesses. (neo)
