Massa promises to call for a unity government

The Peronist candidate for president of Argentina, Sergio Massa, The candidate with the most votes in Sunday’s election has promised to form a unity government if he wins the November 19 runoff.

“I will convene a government of national unity on December 10 as president, calling on the best, regardless of their political strength,” Massa said to hundreds of militants gathered in his election bunker, after reaching 36.52% in the first round. presidential elections, beating Javier Milei, from the far-right party La Libertad Avanza (LLA).

In a fiery speech by Massa, who has been Minister of Economy since July 2022. He thanked those who voted for him this Sunday, but also invited those who did not vote or opted for other candidates.

“The crack has died and a new phase begins on December 10 in my government,” said Massa, leader of the Renovador Front, the third major force within the Peronist Union for the Fatherland coalition.

He admitted that the economic situation in Argentina, which is plagued by multiple imbalances, is “complex” and “full of challenges and difficulties that need to be faced”. a scenario despite which many in the Unión por la Patria saw “the best tool to start building a new stage in Argentine political history”.

“Know that as president from December 10, I will not let you down,” he assured.

He promised to build “clear rules in conditions of uncertainty”, “more order, more security, not improvisation”, with productive development, with federalism and greater participation of the provinces, and with businessmen and workers sitting at the same table.

“We need a country that increases its value-added exports to strengthen its reserves, to consolidate its currency,” he stressed.

He promised that, if he becomes president, he will work to improve the income of wage earners, those still in the “people’s economy” and pensioners.

“This is not a crappy country, as they say. This is a great country and we will put it in the place it deserves,” Massa said.

The Peronist candidate assures that in the last few hours he received calls from “many presidents and leaders of other countries who watched with great interest.” elections this Sunday and that they know that he wants an “integrated Argentina”, that he believes in multilateralism and that he is “a guarantor of stability and security in relations with the world”.
