An unknown man (dressed in an orange vest) shot in the center of Brussels on Monday evening. Two people die.

A man armed with a Kalashnikov opened fire on Monday evening around 7:15 p.m. near Saincteletteplein station in the center of the Belgian capital Brussels. According to initial information, at least two people have been killed and several others have been injured.

A video of the attack is circulating on social media: the man, wearing an orange vest, gets off a scooter and shoots before fleeing again. Eyewitnesses reported that the attacker shouted “Allahu Akbar” before firing.

He is said to have first shot one person in a lobby and later two other people in a taxi. The search for the fugitive perpetrator is in full swing.

The perpetrator has apparently published a video message

The fatalities are said to be Swedish football fans. The Belgian national team plays against Sweden today. A large number of rescue workers are on the scene and the crime scene has been cordoned off over a large area.

The Belgian newspaper “Sudinfo” writes that the perpetrator distributed a video message on Facebook. In it he allegedly said that he was a member of IS (Islamic State) and boasted about killing infidels. In his very violent speech, he said he had shot two people to “avenge the Muslims and for the fact that we live and die for our religion,” it was said. (no)
