No army in the world has more indestructible bulldozers than Israel’s: a so-called ‘teddy bear’ caterpillar of the Israeli Defense Forces.

They are razing houses to the ground, no roadblocks, no artillery fire can stop them: the armored bulldozers and evacuation tanks of the Israeli army. When it invades the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army will also rely on the world’s most indestructible bulldozer. The mine-proof armor can even repel missiles.

Weapons and explosives can hardly damage the 62-ton monster bulldozer. The D9R monster vehicle is eight meters long, four meters high and four and a half meters wide and can detonate mines with its reinforced shovel. The bulletproof cockpit can withstand machine gun fire.

The 15-ton lamellar armor around the cockpit, added in 2015, is designed to withstand even rocket-propelled grenades and rocket attacks. And on the roof there is a mount for machine guns, grenade launchers and smoke launchers. The crew of the ‘teddy bear’, euphemistically called in Hebrew, consists of two soldiers: the driver and a commander.

Specially developed for urban warfare and urban warfare

First used in the 1950s, the highly modified bulldozer was developed by the Israeli army specifically for urban warfare and urban warfare. It is also used to clear paths for tanks and infantry. In total, around 300 Israeli tanks are expected to roll into the Gaza Strip as part of the ground offensive announced by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (73).

The monster bulldozer will not only overcome heavy obstacles, but also perform various tasks in support of infrastructure, such as digging trenches and building bridges and defenses.

The cost of a new Caterpillar D9 bulldozer is at least $900,000. The total cost of the Israeli Army’s final D9R version is much higher. The armored bulldozers are purchased directly from Caterpillar and then extensively equipped with special armor and equipment. (kes)
