Kayaks on the road: Landslides and floods caused by heavy rains in Scotland Crowds of visitors for a little panda: Singapore says goodbye to Le Le

Heavy rain in Scotland has caused floods and landslides. As government officials announced Saturday, parts of the country received more rain in 24 hours than they normally receive in a month. Police said ten motorists had to be rescued from the air after a series of landslides on a road near Inveraray.

In the Inverclyde area the streets also turned into rivers, so some people were out in kayaks. Train traffic in the affected areas was interrupted or limited, the state railway company ScotRail announced.

In view of the storm, the weather service declared that there was a “risk to life” in parts of the country until Sunday afternoon. (sda/afp)
