Indian Army: At least 23 soldiers missing after flash flood Due to death threats: Another concert in Mexican border town canceled

The Indian army says 23 soldiers are missing after a flash flood in northeastern India. Floods have occurred in the Teesta river due to heavy rains over Lhonak Lake in Sikkim state, the Army said on Wednesday. 23 soldiers were reported missing, and some vehicles were also buried under water. It was said that a rescue operation was underway.

Severe floods often occur during the monsoon season in India. It usually starts in June – by October the heaviest rain showers are usually over. Experts believe that climate change is increasing the frequency and severity of precipitation. (rbu/sda/afp)
