The accident took place in the town of San Giovanni Suergiu. After the collision, the sports car was thrown off the road, overturned and caught fire, Italian news agency Ansa reported, citing police.
A Lamborghini driving behind the Ferrari also reportedly left the road. However, the car’s occupants were not seriously injured. The same goes for tourists in campers.
The Swiss couple are said to have taken part in a sports car meeting, the ‘Sardinia Supercar Experience’. The participants started in Teulada and traveled to Olbia in the north of the island. (rbu/sda/ans)
