Identical twins Cassidy and Leah Armbruster from Wisconsin got into a tourist trap with their friends while on a boat trip in the south of France, near Nice. The group of Americans paid no less than 500 euros for a lobster pasta. In the video they posted on Tiktok, the travel influencers can at least laugh at the scam.
“There was a restaurant boat that went around and sold food. We didn’t really want to order anything because we brought snacks,” the students told the New York Post. But the men did not give up and offered them pasta. Without thinking much about the price, the young women were convinced. “We said, ‘Why not?’.”
Bill paid to avoid hassle
Reason enough to decide against the portion would have been the price. But the two unsuspecting sisters and their friends didn’t ask about that. When the delivery men arrived with the food an hour later, they were shocked: the men charged no less than 500 euros for the lobster pasta.
The tourists have no choice but to pay the bill. “In the end, my girlfriend simply advanced the bill to avoid problems,” says one of the two sisters. The two attracted a lot of attention with their clip: the video about the scam on their travel account has now been viewed a million times. (gs)
