It’s a scene that resembles a bad police comedy: On Monday evening around 2:30 am, the police were called to an Edeka branch in Berlin. A police spokeswoman told ‘Bild’ that residents had been able to observe burglars.
When they got there, the officers couldn’t believe their eyes. Immediately noticed a large hole in the roof of the store and underneath was a ladder that the burglars had probably used. When they looked up, police finally discovered one of the burglars: he was stuck in the ceiling.
Released and immediately arrested
Officers were able to free the man from his plight. However, the regained ‘freedom’ was only short-lived for the thief. The police handcuffed the man and took him to the station. The fire brigade was then alerted to better locate any accomplices on the roof.
The identity of the perpetrator is currently being determined. The investigation into possible accomplices and the evaluation of evidence at the crime scene are still ongoing. It is not yet known exactly how much damage was caused and what exactly was stolen. (jl)
