Instead of ‘Made in China’: new iPhone models from India for the first time Google chatbot Bard gets AI fact checker

For the first time, Apple also sold devices from Indian factories when it launched a new iPhone model. A certain number of iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus made in India have been on sale since Friday in various countries, including India itself, business circles confirmed to the German news agency.

Most Apple products are still produced in China. But recently there have been repeated reports that Apple is looking to establish its supply chains with other countries, given geopolitical tensions with China – the focus is on India and Vietnam.

The greater spread of production is also related to the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine and the corona pandemic, as these events revealed major dependencies. In India, there are also government incentives for smartphone production. The country with the most inhabitants is also an interesting growth market for Apple.

The relatively expensive iPhones still only make up a small part of smartphone sales there. But this year, Apple opened official Apple stores in India for the first time. CEO Tim Cook attended the events in New Delhi and Mumbai.
