Americans don’t joke when it comes to their property. This also includes your belongings; anyone who enters it does so at their own risk. Brian F.* (†42) from DeLeon Springs in the American state of Florida also had to experience this.
Last Sunday evening, the 42-year-old was sawing logs along the fence between two plots of land. This bothered his neighbor Edward D.*, reports ABC.
As the 78-year-old stated during his interrogation by the police, he spoke to F. and asked him to leave his building, which he had entered during his work. He allegedly replied with the words ‘mind your business’.
“Stop immediately, otherwise I will shoot”
D. then allegedly pulled out his gun and pointed it at F. He was not impressed by the weapon and continued to approach D.. D. again asked F. to leave his property, according to the court documents.
Then it became too colorful for D. The court documents show that he pulled the trigger and shot F. twice. The neighbor died immediately.
Two knives found on body
Although the two had never had problems with each other before, the 78-year-old told police after the fatal altercation: “His reputation intimidated me. I was afraid that if I didn’t shoot him, he would hurt or kill me.”
It is unclear to what extent this fear is true. However, court records show that two knives were found on Brian F.’s body. Edward D. was arrested for manslaughter, according to authorities. (gs)
