A Swiss man (22) is accused of fraud in Italy. He had driven on the Italian highways without paying tolls. The trick: the Swiss driver continued to drive so close to the previous vehicle that the two vehicles passed the checkpoint together. Quite dangerous, because this could have led to a rear-end collision.
The Swiss has now been unmasked and is being charged. As the Italian newspaper “Corriere della Sera” reports, the Swiss usually passed the Grandate barrier on the A9 Lainate-Como-Chiasso. The employees noticed his dangerous driving style. The investigation then began.
In ten months, the Swiss vehicle was registered 172 times without the driver paying. The Como Public Prosecutor’s Office now accuses him of serious fraud. The total damage amounts to 1600 euros. (jwg)
