Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti will pay a courtesy visit to Bern next weekend. He is received by Federal President Alain Berset.
Current regional issues in the Western Balkans and bilateral relations between Switzerland and Kosovo should be discussed, the Federal Ministry of the Interior (EDI) wrote. The EDI confirmed to Keystone-SDA on Monday a report from the Albanian-language Swiss news portal Le Canton27.ch.
According to Le Canton27.ch, Kurti will hold a meeting with the Albanian-speaking candidates for the National Council at the Kosovo embassy in Bern on the evening of his visit. During his stay in Switzerland he will also visit several cantons. Over the past two years, representatives of Kosovo have visited Switzerland at least ten times.
Switzerland was one of the first countries to recognize Kosovo’s independence on March 14, 2018. Currently, more than 300,000 Albanian-speaking people live and work in Switzerland, as Le Canton27.ch and the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) report.
Furthermore, it is said that Switzerland has become the most visited country by the Kosovo government. (sda)
