“An accident? An accident is when I think I’m going to fart and then pee my pants. This is a little more than an accident, my friends…” writes a user on X (formerly Twitter). He responds to a call from the US Marine Air Base Charleston for help.

“We are working with MCAS Beaufort SC to locate an F-35 that was involved in an accident this afternoon. The pilot ejected safely. If you have information that could help our recovery teams locate the F-35, please call the Base Defense Operations Center at 843-963-3600,” the statement said.

“Have you looked in Ukraine?”

Meanwhile, a stream of ridicule erupts online. Users on the news platform X (formerly Twitter) joke about the so-called ‘accident’ in the comments and post creative memes. For example, an edited selfie of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, with the missing plane behind him. The photo is captioned: “Have you looked in Ukraine?”

However, the headline is: “Where is our F-35?” The fighter jet can be seen in the background. Another user asks with a fake eBay ad: “Is this by any chance this one?”
