On Saturday, racing teams from Europe will meet for a so-called drag race at an airport in Zweibrücken (D). During the SCC 500 “Rolling 50 /1000” event, two drivers compete in a drag race.
At 11:07 am disaster struck. A 24-year-old Swiss man from French-speaking Switzerland fell several times in his Audi and was thrown from the vehicle after crossing the finish line, police said.
Even though rescue measures are immediately taken, the helpers can no longer do anything for him: the 24-year-old dies at the scene of the accident. The race is stopped immediately. On the orders of the public prosecutor in Zweibrücken, an expert was called in to clarify the cause of the accident.
“I lost my brother”
The Swiss team is shocked. The company published a photo of the accident victim on its Instagram page. About the condolences, the head of the team writes: “I thank everyone for their support in this moment that shook my life. I have lost my little brother.” The deceased was a motor racing enthusiast who loved his Audi TTRS.
The organizers of the race wrote on Instagram that the shock was still deep. “After crossing the finish line, the participant lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons and an accident occurred without any outside influence.”
The event was immediately canceled. “Our deepest condolences go out to the family members and friends of the deceased.” (neo)
