Donald Trump doesn’t want this judge – that’s what’s behind Sick American researcher rescued from cave in Turkey after nine days

Former US President Donald Trump wants the judge responsible removed from his federal case in connection with attempted election fraud. Trump’s lawyers asked the court in Washington on Monday (local time) to have Judge Tanya Chutkan dismiss the case. In justification, they cited several past statements by Chutkan and accused her of not being neutral, but of participating in the proceedings with predetermination.

Trump is facing federal charges in Washington related to attempted election fraud. It is about his months-long campaign against his defeat in the 2020 presidential election, which culminated in the violent attack on the US Capitol by his supporters on January 6, 2021. The 77-year-old is accused, among other things, of conspiring against the United States.

In recent months, Chutkan had led several cases against rioters who participated in the storming of the Capitol. She distinguished herself with particularly harsh judgments.

Former President Donald Trump prepares to throw a football to the crowd during a visit to the Alpha Gamma Rho, an agricultural fraternity, at Iowa State University before an NCAA college football game.

In one of the proceedings, she stated that the rioters had acted “out of blind loyalty to a person who is otherwise still at large.” This reference to Trump bothers the Republican and his defenders, among other things. The meaning of this statement is clear: according to Chutkan, Trump is free, but that should not be the case, they wrote in the motion on Monday.

Trump’s move comes as no surprise. The ex-president and his lawyers are trying in various ways to extend the various proceedings against him through legal motions. The Republican presidential candidate is facing a total of four different charges in the middle of the campaign for a possible second term. (sda/dpa)
