The cheating couple who swindled themselves three free dinners with the same scam.

It’s a cheeky trick that a British couple in Crete has apparently had several successes with. The couple visits a restaurant, enjoys the food and drink served – but when it comes to the bill, they complain loudly. The British must then refuse to pay and flee.

But now the victims are fighting back. An employee of the Ariadni Apartments restaurant posts a photo of a couple in the private Facebook group “Koutouloufari For Ever”, as reported by the “Daily Mail”.

The image is accompanied by the warning: ‘Keep an eye on this couple! After they finish eating, they refuse to pay.” They are already the third restaurant to be damaged by the couple.

Innkeepers warn each other

The couple allegedly carried out the scam on separate evenings in at least three restaurants around the village of Koutoulafari in northern Crete. But now the innkeepers in the village would have exchanged ideas and warned against each other.

According to the Daily Mail, the photo was accompanied by outrage – particularly from Britons who fear their compatriots will damage their reputation.

One woman writes, “How could someone do such a thing to the lovely people around?” Another commented: “People like that give us Brits a bad name.” The report does not indicate whether the affected taverns called the police. (neo)
