Spaniard Daniel Sancho Bronchalo, son of an actor Rodolfo Sanchowas arrested on Saturday as a suspect in the murder of a surgeon of Colombian nationality on the island of Koh Phangan (southern Thailand), EFE learned from a source close to the case.
Sancho, 29, was questioned by the police since Friday thai, which assures that he confessed to the crime and revealed that he killed and dismembered 44-year-old Colombian Edwin Arrieta Arteaga out of “jealousy and fear of being cheated on.”
He also contradictorily said that Edwin was holding him captive. “He held me hostage. It was a glass cage, but it was a cage. He forced me to destroy a relationship with a girl, forced me to do things I never would.”
The Spaniard was detained at the Koh Phangan police station, and on Monday he could be transferred to the neighboring island of Samui, where he would appear in court. On that day, the judge is expected to review the case and the evidence presented by the police and decide whether to formally charge him.
The name of the alleged perpetrator of the crime that the police discovered matches with that of the son of the Spanish actor Rodolfo Sanchothe granddaughter of actor Sancho Gracija, as well as photos provided by the Thai authorities.
Sancho, whose visa was revoked, has been under police surveillance since Friday, after he reported his friend, who had reportedly arrived on the island a day earlier, missing at the Kho Phangan police station on Thursday night.
According to police sources for EFE, the young man followed the police this Saturday to the place where he allegedly threw the various parts of the Colombian’s dismembered body, including into the sea.
A garbage collector discovered a severed pelvis and human intestines hidden in a bag of fertilizer dumped at a landfill on a tourist island on Thursday, prompting police to launch an investigation into a possible murder.
A new search at the same dump on Friday found more human remains, including a bag containing two parts of lower limbs, along with a T-shirt and shorts, local media reported.
After these revelations, the police decided on Friday to interrogate the Spaniard as a suspect, also as a result of noticing that he had cuts and scratches on his body when he went to the police station to report him missing.
Sancho was caught by security cameras earlier this week buying knives, a saw and garbage bags and searched his accommodation on an island in the Gulf of Thailand known for its full moon parties.
Full moon parties, which gather thousands of young people from all over the world, took place last week on one of the island’s beaches.
According to the Bangkok Post, citing sources in the investigation, the two men arranged to travel and meet on Koh Phanganwhere the alleged victim booked a hotel room from July 31 to August 3.
Sancho, who said he had picked up his friend at the Koh Phangan pier on Wednesday and that they had spent the day together, told police that his friend went missing after midnight that same day.

On Friday, the suspect posted the story on his Instagram profile on the beach next to the Anantara hotelone of the most exclusive on the island.
