Seriously ill Austrian (71) fulfills her life wish with a taxi ride of 4000 euros to Montreux

It is 1000 kilometers from Kamegg in Lower Austria to Montreux VD in Switzerland. The Austrian pensioner Jana Carolina (71), who has a serious heart condition, lives in Kamegg. And in Montreux is a majestic 3-meter bronze statue of Freddie Mercury (1946-1991), the legendary singer of the rock band Queen.

Carolina is a passionate Mercury fan. Her bedroom is full of Freddie posters. When she leaves the house, she only wears clothes with Freddie on them, she told the online portal “Mein Bezirk”. Now Carolina has fulfilled a special dream.

At the end of September, she took a taxi to pay her respects to her idol in faraway Montreux. For this, the senior needed her savings, according to the “Kronenzeitung”. She paid 4,000 euros for the taxi ride, including food and lodging.

“I Thought It And Did It”

She suffered severely from a heart condition and embarked on this unusual journey in old age. And never regretted it for a second. With the trip to Freddie, whom she considers “snazzy”, she fulfilled a lifelong dream – singing Mercury hits at the place of desire along with many other Queen fans from around the world.

It was an “indescribable feeling”. “Certainly not cheap,” said the 71-year-old afterwards. “But that’s my wish in life, I’ve thought and done it. If I die after that, I don’t give a damn.” (keep)
