The T-14 Armata supertank is designed to bring victory to Russia. If you can believe the Putin propagandist Vladimir Solovyov (59), it is “the best tank in the world”.

Already in December last year, the TV presenter claimed that the miracle tank could soon be used in Ukraine. His prophecy now appears to be coming true. As the “Bild” reports, citing Russian state media, the 50-ton colossus has now been sighted at the front for the first time.

Several tanks would have been deployed

According to the Russian Tass news agency, several examples of the supertank have been used during active combat operations and then withdrawn. The reason: Additional tests would need to be performed.

Although Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin (70) first presented the super tank to the public in 2015, there are only recordings of the vehicle during exercises or parades.

The information whether the T-14 Armata was actually sighted at the front cannot be independently verified. What is certain, however, is that the Ukrainians can brace themselves if that is the case.

Armata is faster and heavier than previous tanks

Despite its weight of more than 50 tons, it is considerably faster than the previous models: the tank reaches a speed of up to 90 kilometers per hour. But that’s not all: the colossus can cover a distance of 500 kilometers with just one tank full.

Unlike previous models, the T-14 has an unmanned turret. The three-man crew is fully contained within the heavily armored hull, from where they can control the turret and fire the heavy projectiles. The video cameras with which the “Armata” is equipped also ensure that the crew can orient themselves well. They are intended to give the crew a good view.

However, the miracle weapon has one shortcoming: unlike the modern main battle tank models, the T-14 does not have a launch station for on-board drones. (dzc)
