Moscow is again bombing the port of Odesa and several Ukrainian cities
Authorities from Ukraine they assure that Russia withdrew almost all the troops in which it was stationed Belarus and that, therefore, the situation at the border is “completely under control”. “We have not registered the movement of military equipment or personnel, nor units of the Russian army, nor units of the Belarusian army,” State Border Service spokesman Andri Demchenko told local television.
“I can add that for now Russia practically withdrew its units (…) It is possible that at some point new ones will be transferred, but at the moment there are practically no units of the Russian regular army in Belarus,” said the spokesman, reports Europa Press. “Of course, our attention and the attention of the Armed Forces is focused on the situation of Russian mercenaries on the territory of Belarus,” he added regarding the announced presence of Wagner Group employees.
Demchenko added that they do not rule out that “they will be transferred to Belarus, taking into account the rhetoric of the Russian and Belarusian authorities.” He also confirmed that mercenaries are still arriving in that country. “They are moving to their location near Osipovic,” he said.
The spokesman, however, specified that the exact number of mercenaries who crossed over from Ukraine is not yet known, but ruled out that they could pose a serious threat to Kiev’s interests.
The arrival of Wagner’s men in Belarus is part of an agreement between Russian President Vladimir Putin and mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin after their failed rebellion at the end of June. They were offered to leave the country without charge or to join the regular ranks of the Russian army.
the attacks continue
In the meantime, bombing they continued the third consecutive day against the port infrastructure of Odessa involved in the transfer of grain and against other cities, in an increasingly tense context after Moscow abandoned an agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain and warned that it could shoot at merchant ships trying to bypass the blockade of Ukrainian coasts imposed by the Russian navy, reports Colpisa.
Odessa and its region were bombarded by 19 Russian cruise missiles and 19 drones in two salvos, causing various damages to the port terminals and the city center. This was stated by the head of the Military Administration of Odesa, Oleg Kiper, who estimated the victims at one dead and eight wounded. The biggest attack was carried out on the port city of Mykolaiv, where one person was killed, 18 were injured, and several houses were partially destroyed.
The governor of the region, Vitaly Kim, announced via his Telegram channel that “the Russians attacked the city center, the parking lot and the three-story building are burning.” According to their report, “a total of 18 people were injured, nine of whom were hospitalized, including five children. Two people were pulled out of the ruins.” That’s when it became known about the death of a person. In the Kharkov region, there was also this Thursday a death by shots from a Russian tank.
