Possible Trump indictment: Grand jury wants to hear witnesses again At least 48 injured after alleged gas explosion in South Africa

According to media reports, the jury to decide on further charges against former US President Donald Trump will hear another witness this Thursday.

FILE - Former President Donald Trump speaks to supporters at the Westside Conservative Breakfast, June 1, 2023, in Des Moines, Iowa. A federal judge upheld a $5 million jury verdict against Donald T…

It concerns witness William Russell, who worked in the White House under Trump and still works for the Republican, broadcasters CNN and NBC News reported. He would have to give information in a federal court in Washington. Russell had already been questioned by the grand jury in the course of the investigation into the storming of the seat of the US House of Representatives on January 6, 2021.

Trump announced on Tuesday that he had been informed by letter on Sunday that he was being targeted by investigations. The 77-year-old, who plans to run again next year in presidential elections, made it clear that he expects to be arrested and charged. He was given four days to report to the jury. However, he does not intend to take this opportunity, the media reported, citing Trump’s lawyers. It’s unclear exactly when the grand jury will decide on an indictment.

Camera teams positioned themselves Thursday morning (local time) in front of the courthouse in the US capital. Should there be an indictment, that would be where the reading of the indictment would take place. Trump should also appear for that. The courthouse is located more than 500 meters as the crow flies from the US Capitol – the scene of the unprecedented attack a year and a half ago. From there, the imposing dome building is clearly visible. (saw/sda/dpa)
