A pedestrian (50) and a driver (48) were killed, police in Zagreb said. Eight other people suffered injuries, mainly to the head, hospital doctors reported.

A video showed how a construction crane in the Croatian capital overturned due to the strong gusts of wind. According to media reports, the crane operator was still in the cab at the time of the incident, but survived the fall with minor injuries. Another man was killed near Nova Gradiška while riding out of a tree, as “RTL Danas” reported.

As the Croatian weather service “DHMZ” announced via Twitter, there is a red severe weather alert level for several parts of Croatia. Holidaymakers and residents should expect the worst, especially near the sea. (nad/SDA)
