The bribery scandal that came to light at the end of last year concerns alleged influence by the governments of Qatar and Morocco on decisions by the EU parliament. The suspects include former Deputy Speaker of Parliament Eva Kaili (44), her partner Francesco Giorgi (35), Belgian MP Marc Tarabella (60) and suspected mastermind Antonio Panzeri (68).

Against Arena has not yet been determined. However, she resigned as Chair of the Subcommittee on Human Rights after it was revealed that she only revealed a business trip paid for by Qatar long after the corruption scandal broke. (SDA)
