A 13-year-old from Brandenburg who has been missing for days has been picked up safely in Schleswig-Holstein. The boy, who drove away unnoticed in his grandfather’s car near Berlin over the weekend, was found at a campsite in the Plön district near the Baltic Sea, the police in Neuruppin reported on Wednesday.
A 15-year-old who was apparently with the boy had notified her mother. She then contacted the police. By finding a cell phone, officers were able to determine the whereabouts of the two missing persons. In the end, they found them safe at the campsite. Grandfather’s car was also there.
Bub is known to the police
The boy had visited his grandfather this weekend in the municipality of Glienicke/Nordbahn near Berlin. Apparently he took the car key unnoticed and then drove away by car on Sunday afternoon.
According to the police, the 13-year-old is not a blank slate: the boy lives in a youth care institution and has run away several times. He was also known to the police for several crimes. (dzc/AFP)
