As the Thüringer Staatsrecherche (LKA) announced on Friday evening, raw materials for the production of explosives were also found in a total of five objects during the raid. The four suspects were already known to the police for petty crime.
The LKA announced that a total of four homes and a garden plot were searched in and around the municipality of Straussfurt near Erfurt. Raw materials for the production of pyrotechnics and for the production of explosives in the form of fertilizers were seized.
There was no immediate danger from the substances, they were now being forensically examined. The officials also took various electronic data carriers, mobile phones and fireworks, including so-called Chinese firecrackers.
The officers involved in the raid also “met the relevant suspects and witnesses,” the LKA statement said. Accordingly, the first interrogations took place.
The two explosives were found next to the platform on Sunday. One was marked with a swastika, which stood on a cloth in which the explosive was wrapped. Rail traffic in the region was temporarily interrupted by the federal police.
According to information from the LKA, one of the explosives has been detonated in a controlled manner and the second has been defused. Both explosives were functional, the researchers said. State security took over the investigation.
