A climate activist (31) has been sentenced to prison without parole in the German capital Berlin after a false fire alarm and three roadblocks. The 31-year-old was sentenced to four months in prison on Monday.

It is the second time that a prison sentence without parole has been imposed in Berlin after actions by the Last Generation group against climate activists. In April, the Tiergarten court also imposed four months in prison on a 24-year-old woman. Politicians have long called for tougher action against these kinds of protests, including sticking to the asphalt.

The Tiergarten District Court found him guilty of coercion, attempted coercion, defiance of law enforcement and abuse of emergency calls. There is no question of a suspended sentence in the case of the computer scientist. He was convicted of similar charges and did not show any change of heart during the trial. (SDA)
