The Anglo-French singer and actress Jane Birkin has died at the age of 76, a spokesman for the city of Paris confirmed to the German news agency on Sunday. Various media reported about it earlier.

Jane Birkin also had a connection to Switzerland. She played the leading role in the short film «La femme et le TGV» by the Swiss director Timo von Gunten. The comic was nominated for an Oscar for best short film in 2017. «La femme et le TGV» tells the story of a woman who stands at the window of her house in the Neuchâtel Jura every day at 6.18 am for three decades. and 7:13 p.m. and the driver of the passing high-speed train waves – until one night she waits in vain.
The short film premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2016. In the same year, the festival honored Birkin with a leopard for her life’s work – and a retrospective.
