Rape: Ballermann holidaymakers from Germany threatened with detention Rape: Ballermann holidaymakers from Germany threatened with detention

Six holidaymakers from Germany, who are under investigation into possible gang rape, appear in court in Mallorca on Saturday. If the court orders pre-trial detention because of the evidence, the young men risk weeks behind bars.

The police accuse at least some of them of raping an 18-year-old German tourist. The Spanish newspaper “Última Hora” reported the day before, citing investigative circles, that police had found videos of the rape on the mobile phones of those arrested.

Police said one of the six men met a German in the party stronghold near Ballermann on Thursday evening. Both allegedly had consensual sex in a hotel room. The woman was later raped by some of the man’s five German friends.

The woman was eventually able to escape and, with the help of the hotel receptionist, alerted the police, who arrested five of the men at 3:40 am on Thursday morning. The sixth suspect was arrested on Friday.

Rejected at the first hotel

Referring to investigative circles, “Última Hora” reported that the woman initially voluntarily went to the man’s hotel, but was rejected because she was not a guest. The man then accompanied her to a neighboring hotel where friends of his were staying.

When they came later, the woman had consensual sex with two other men, but rejected the other three. Then she was raped. Where in Germany the detainees and the victim came from was initially unknown. One of the suspects has Turkish nationality. (saw/sda)
