Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin was actually considered a close confidant of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The head of the bloodthirsty group of mercenaries was also called “Putin’s cook”.
A company that also operates catering in the Kremlin brought him the name: Concord Management and Consulting Group. Prigozhin repeatedly posts videos and audio messages online on Telegram through her account.
But that seems over now. After weeks of trading blows between Prigozhin and the military leadership in the Kremlin, the Wagner boss finally made short work of it at the end of June and tried to march his troops into Moscow.
They reached Rostov-on-Don. Then there was a sudden turn of events, Prigozhin called back his mercenaries and disappeared – according to the Belarusian ruler Lukashenko – into exile in Belarus. Apparently, he and his mercenaries shouldn’t suffer any consequences either.
But it is currently unclear how reliable this information really is and what the future of the Wagner mercenaries in Putin’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine will look like.
A leaked calendar from Prigozhin provides information on how involved the Wagner boss was in Russia’s machinations in the past.
Lukashenko brokered Wagner boss Prigozhin in the deal with Putin
According to the Institute for the Study of War think tank, it is apparently not the case that the Wagner mercenaries and Prigozhin went into exile in Belarus. The Belarusian ruler probably brokered an agreement between Putin and Prigozhin after the coup attempt. Apparently part of this agreement was that the mercenaries and Prigozhin would receive unspecified security guarantees in Belarus.
However, according to Lukashenko, the Wagner mercenaries and Prigozhin have not been in his country since July 6. With that, Prigozhin probably wouldn’t keep his part of the deal. According to the report, Prigozhin is said to be in St. Petersburg or even Moscow.
The leaked calendar could now provide information on how deeply involved the Wagner boss is in the Kremlin’s machinations. But above all it becomes clear how many followers Prigozhin has in Russia.
Prigozhin has many supporters in the Russian power apparatus
The “Businessinsider” writes that a hacker group leaked Prigozhin’s calendar to the medium and other portals such as “Politico” or “Welt” at the beginning of this year. According to the report, the calendar goes back 10 years and ends before the Russian army invades Ukraine in 2022.
According to the current report, 33 meetings with Putin’s former bodyguard, Alexei Dyumin, have been documented in the calendar. He is now the governor of Tula Oblast. However, in the event of an uprising, it is believed that he will remain faithful to Prigozhin.
Similarly, according to the report, Prigozhin had 11 appointments with former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in the past ten years up to November 2021 on his calendar, according to the report.
His agenda also included 75 appointments with Russia’s Deputy Defense Minister Ruslan Zalikov. Prigozhin is said to have met Russian diplomat Anton Vaino 73 times. He has been Chief of Staff of Putin’s Executive Office since 2016 and a permanent member of Russia’s Security Council.
Apparently, Prigozhin’s calendar contained no references to a direct meeting with Vladimir Putin. According to “Business Insider,” the name was only mentioned twice – both times in the context of larger events. But there is talk of the “president” in the calendar, writes “Businessinsider”. However, it can also be a code word.
