A 25-year-old man is suspected of the attack and has already been detained by the police
The attack on the nursery in the Chinese city of Lianjiang, in the province of Canton (southeast), ended today at least six dead and one injured.
according to the newspaper paperwhich refers to the testimonies of locals, a man arrived at the kindergarten with a knife, which he used at the entrance to attack a child and two adults before entering.
In a statement, police limited themselves to explaining that a 25-year-old man surnamed Wu and a resident of the city had committed a “deliberate attack” at 7:40 a.m. (23:40 GMT Sunday) this Monday and was in custody. The authorities did not provide information on the age or identity of the victims, although, according to local media, it is not excluded that there are children among the dead, and some claim that they are victims a teacher, two parents and three minors.
In recent years, there have been numerous similar attacks in kindergartens and schools in that Asian country, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries. China’s Ministry of Education issued a circular in 2019 urging all schools in the country to strengthen security prevent potential attackers from accessing the premises.
Chinese media often refer to these types of incidents, including some stampedes by crowds, several of which have been reported in recent months, as “acts of revenge against society.”
