Hello World! Under this motto, the Exosphere first shone over Las Vegas.

There was a very special spectacle in Las Vegas for Independence Day. The so-called Exosphere adorned the city for the first time. This is nothing less than the largest LED screen in the world. On top of that. The Exosphere is also the largest circular structure in the world, as reported by “CBS News”.

Under the motto “Hello world!” a realistic looking eye was shown exploring the world for the first time. Then came spectacle after spectacle. In addition to immersive art installations, the Exosphere transformed into a realistic-looking moon, a basketball, and even a Halloween pumpkin. Creativity seems to know no bounds.

More than 1.2 million LEDs

The Exosphere is the exterior of the new Sphere location. It involves a screen of approximately 53,800 square feet. This consists of 1.2 million LED pucks, each with 48 LED diodes – and can shine in 256 million different colors. Guy Barnett, Brand Strategist and Creative Developer says of “Designboom”: “The Exosphere is more than a screen or a billboard – it is living architecture and unlike anything else in the world.”

An equally immersive venue for music, sports and film events is created inside the building. About 18,000 people can sit there – if only they are patient. Because the Sphere will not open its doors for a U2 concert series until September. However, Claffey, Operations Officer at Sphere, gives a preview of what visitors can expect: “The screen extends from the ground to a height of 75 meters – all around. Everyone in the audience is completely immersed in the experience.”

Project cost $2.3 billion

The building cost about $2.3 billion. This corresponds to one billion more than originally planned. It can still be profitable. Because: The U2 tickets cost between 1200 and 1500 dollars per person, reports “Billboard”.

In addition, the Exosphere is designed to generate advertising revenue, as David Hopkinson, President and Chief Operating Officer of MSG Sports says: “The Exosphere provides a 360-degree canvas for brands to tell stories. Nothing beats the impact of innovative branding and immersive content on the world’s largest video screen.” (Mrs)
