An action by Norwegian parliamentarian Bjørnar Moxnes caused a scandal. The 41-year-old stole a pair of luxury sunglasses at the airport. Now he is THE topic in Norway.
Socialist party leader Rødt was with his girlfriend at Oslo airport on June 16. He tried on sunglasses at the Hugo Boss store. Then he put it on his bag on the luggage cart – and continued through the store. A moment later he puts the glasses in his jacket pocket.
But a store detective observed everything and apprehended the thief in front of the store. Moxnes is reported and has to pay a fine of about 390 francs.
He apologized and said he accidentally put the glasses in his pocket. In addition, the politician reported sick on Monday at an extraordinary party meeting. According to a party spokeswoman, the party still has full confidence in the chairman.
When confronted later, he claimed to have panicked. He was too embarrassed to go back to the store and return the glasses. And: “I was afraid of a scandal and that I would harm the party.”
