A Pole (37) stepped hard on the accelerator in his BMW: he drove on a German national road at 228 km/h on Monday evening – and overtook a police car with almost 130 km/h too much on the speedometer. Only 100 km/h would be allowed on this route.
According to “Bild,” the 37-year-old was driving a 560 hp BMW M6 on the B105 near Stralsund, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern when he spotted the patrol crew. Explosive: Despite an overtaking ban, the 37-year-old passed the officials and continued towards Stralsund.
According to the newspaper, the police would have had trouble keeping up with the speed demon. The law enforcement officers sometimes had to accelerate their patrol car to over 200 km/h in order not to be left behind.
The speeder also endangered other road users while driving. It kept closing. “It got really dangerous,” says a Bild police spokesman. The police noticed that the fugitive wanted to reach the highest possible speed on the route.
In an exit, the patrol finally managed to stop the Poles. The man was soon suspected of drug use. A blood test was ordered.
His frenzy may now even cost the Pole his freedom. He faces a five-year prison sentence. In concrete terms: The driver must answer for, among other things, participation in a prohibited motor vehicle race. Since 2017, this also includes pursuits by the police.
He is also being investigated for traffic violation and driving under the influence of intoxicants. His driver’s license was confiscated on the spot. (A)
