Further parts of Trump search document released Further parts of Trump search document released

In the affair of classified government documents, the US Justice Department has released further parts of a document that formed the basis of the order to search ex-President Donald Trump’s property.

Large parts were already visible after the search last August, Wednesday (local time) the document was published again with fewer editors. For example, a previously obscured photo of a storage room with countless stacked boxes can now be seen at Trump’s private residence Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach. That is not really new, however, because it is also part of the indictment against Trump.

The Republican was charged at a federal level in June for storing top secret government documents at Mar-a-Lago and failing to return them when requested. In early August 2022, the Federal Police FBI searched Trump’s Florida villa and seized several sets of documents classified as top secret.

The passages that have now been released also show that images from surveillance cameras in the building show that a person who has just been questioned by the FBI rearranges countless boxes. The person is not named, but it could be Trump aide Walt Nauta, who is also accused in the case. Trump allegedly ordered him to remove boxes of documents for the purpose of the investigation. The Public Prosecution Service sees this as a conspiracy to obstruct the course of justice. (sda/dpa)
