According to American meteorologists, Monday was the warmest day in the world since measurements began. On July 3, an average temperature of 17.01 degrees Celsius was measured, the US Oceanography and Weather Administration NOAA reports Tuesday. This surpassed the previous record of 16.92 degrees on July 24, 2022.
Monday’s record has yet to be confirmed by other readings. However, it may soon be broken again as midsummer begins in the Northern Hemisphere.
Temperatures can continue to rise until early August
Global average temperatures usually continue to rise until late July/early August. The global average temperature fluctuates during the year between twelve and 17 degrees and averaged 16.2 degrees at the beginning of July between 1979 and 2000.
At the beginning of June this year, the European Earth observation program Copernicus recorded the highest global mean temperatures ever recorded in that period. The previous records had been “significantly” surpassed. The hottest June on record was recorded in the UK, multiple temperature records were broken in Asia and there was also a severe heat wave in Mexico. (SDA)
