Two months after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the health emergency due to corona over in Spain as well. The government in Madrid has announced that the Council of Ministers has decided on Tuesday to end all the extraordinary measures agreed to deal with the pandemic. This also removes the mask requirement that still applies in some areas, it said. The resolutions are expected to enter into force soon after publication in the Official Journal. At the beginning of May, the international corona health emergency declared by the WHO came to an end.
With the decision of the left-wing government of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, the mask requirement has been lifted in pharmacies, health institutions and retirement homes across Spain. The obligation to wear mouth and nose protection in public places was established in Spain more than three years ago, on May 20, 2020. (sda/dpa)
