This cow in Brazil is worth 3.8 million francs.

A cow in Brazil is worth nearly four million Swiss francs (originally: 21 million Brazilian real) – the world record is broken. The animal is worth a total of CHF 3.8 million, making the four-year-old cow the most expensive in the world!

At auction, a breeder paid the equivalent of CHF 1.3 million for the animal. But not for the whole animal. In 2022, the first part of the animal was auctioned for the record value of around 732,000 Swiss francs. The breeder had already taken a liking to the animal. This is reported by the medium “Agroverdad”, specialized in agriculture and livestock.

Viatina-19 FIV Mara Imóveis – that’s the name of the valuable cow – was auctioned in Arandu in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. This is reported by the Argentinian newspaper “Clarin”.

By the way: Miss Missy was the most expensive cow in the world until the auction in Brazil. It was sold in 2019 for $1.2 million, the equivalent of 1 million Swiss francs.

Breed is originally from India

As the medium reports, the animal belongs to the Nelore breed of cattle and was owned by the Brazilian agricultural company Casa Branca. With the new buyer, the cow is now part of the Nelore HRO herd.

According to «Agroverdad», the Nelore breed is very popular not only in the cattle market in Brazil, but also abroad. Although originally from India, the breed reaches the highest number of animals in Brazil and made up a high percentage of Brazil’s livestock population in the 20th century. The animals are mainly used for milk and meat production.
