At the beginning of this year, a demonstration by right-wing extremists who burned the Koran in front of the Turkish embassy in Stockholm sparked outrage and heightened tensions between Sweden and Turkey. At the time, Turkey suspended negotiations over Sweden’s application to join NATO.
According to their own statements, the Swedish police have now authorized a protest rally in front of a mosque in Stockholm, where a copy of the Koran will be burned. Sweden’s NATO membership is at risk
