The drama takes place on Monday at 5 p.m. in Colesville, in the US state of New York: Patrick P.* (26) has a violent argument with his wife, who is holding their child, three-week-old Eleanor, in her arms.
Then the unbelievable happens: Patrick P. grabs his crossbow and shoots at his wife. The bolt hits his young daughter, piercing her chest and injuring his wife in the process.
Father escapes in his pickup truck
She immediately tries to call the emergency services, but her husband even prevents her from doing so. Patrick P. pulls the bolt from his child’s body and finally flees in his red pickup.
The rescuers who have now arrived can do nothing more for the baby: it dies at the crime scene. The mother is taken to hospital, the severity of the injury is not clear.
The escaped father and shooter is caught by the police in a nearby forest area: there he got stuck in the mud with his pick-up. He will have to answer for, among other things, intentional manslaughter. (new)
