A man from North Carolina (USA) got the upgrade of his life. Unknowingly, Phil Stringer would be boarding his 2.5-hour domestic flight from Oklahoma City to his home in Charlotte on the East Coast on Sunday morning. Only: his flight was 18 hours late.
When boarding finally began well after midnight after an 18-hour wait, Stringer was the only passenger on board. All the other passengers had already given up and left. To Stringer’s surprise, the “private flight” was carried out anyway.
The crew turned the situation into a spectacle
The young man told the newspaper “Insider” about the incredible experience. He hated that the American Airlines crew had to be taken out of the hotel just for him. However, the crew took the situation with humor – and organized a merry “private party” in the sky.
Stringer videotaped the experience and posted it to TikTok. The videos show flight attendants encouraging each other as they give mandatory safety instructions. Each loudspeaker announcement ended with the words “Yes Phil, this is just for you,” the solo traveler told the “Insider.”
In addition, Stringer got to sit in first class and indulge in gourmet food and champagne as a VIP passenger.
“The crew laughed at me and giggled and asked if I wouldn’t have been able to fly a few hours later,” he said with a laugh. The TikTok video has now generated more than 15 million clicks and countless positive reactions.
