Tragedy in the German town of Wettenberg in Hesse. A toddler has died from overheating in a parked car. The 18-month-old boy was accidentally left there for hours by his father (37), the police in Giessen reported on Tuesday.
For example, the car with the lifeless child was found last Wednesday afternoon in a parking lot on an industrial estate in Wettenberg. The father parked the car in the morning. When he returned in the afternoon, he found the boy lifeless in his child seat. The father immediately called the emergency services – but the child had already died.
Repeated deaths
Autopsy revealed that acute overheating was the cause of death. The father is now under investigation for negligent homicide. The detectives gave no further details.
There are dozens of deaths every year from forgotten babies in cars around the world. Authorities warn against leaving babies and young children alone in cars. (zis/AFP)
